Mortgage on maternity salary reference

Can anyone help me
I am on maternity leave from the nhs work part time only doing 50hrs a month at weekends and evenings as I look after my two kids in the day!
We have sold and bought a new house and are just porting our existing mortgage and amount over. God, who thought it would be so hard:mad:
I had to supply the bank my p60, current wage slips and as I was on maternity a employees reference. My wage is made up of a basic wage but as I do weekends and evenings I get a lot of enhancements on top. I take home around £600 per month my basic is £403 per month. I am due back to work in aug and have confirmed my return and going back to do my normal shifts.
The nhs will only confirm to the bank on the reference my basic wage as I am on maternity! Stating I earn 4836.00 per year 403 per month! They will not confirm that my average salary before I left is £600 and as I am returning to do the same hours etc I will be back earning the £600 again and my mortgage has a £10k shortfall.
My p60 this year including my maternity leave which I have been on since sept shows I earned £6950 and I've supplied the bank 1 years wage slips showing my earnings plus my maternity money is being paid at £550 per month but the bank states the reference over rules all of these!
Any advice on where I can go on this as I think it's a little unfair on the nhs part but also the bank should be able to see that their info is incorrect by all my proof but completely understand the banks position!!! :(

  • The banks's position on maternity is based around the guaranteed wage, which as you're on mat leave right now, is less than normal for you.

Some lenders may be willing to take into account past overtime, but in reality I would not expect many to - their risk is that you do not return, or that you do not maintain those hours following your return to work.

Unless your employer is willing to soften their stance on their reference, I am not sure there is much you can do until you return. The way I would approach this is to ask for a refernece with specific questions: Basic wage, overtime in last 12 months, mat leave paid.
So many glitches, so little time...

My maternity pay is actually the same as my monthly pay!!!! So I've been lucky. But my maternity pay will be more than the amount they have supplied back to the bank in the employees salary reference as they will only give them my basic pay not my basic pay plus my enhancements!
The enhancements are not overtime but extra pay I get for doing weekend work I.e weekend pay! Even tho have I have agreed a return to work date and that I am returning to do the same hours and shifts am returning in aug on annual leave july they are refusing to confirm what my average salary will be! Just seems a little unfair?
