Item shows as signed for however I have not received it

I wanted some advice on this issue that I am having, I ordered something last month and I have not received it so I contacted the seller and they provided me with a tracking code which I tracked and it said it had been delivered and it had been signed for with my name however the signature is not mine and is not one that anyone else I know recognizes so I don't know what has happened here.

What do you think I should do about this?
I have contacted the seller and I have opened a case and they said that they would investigate this and contact Royal Mail about it.
I am worried about all this as I am not happy about someone signing for my parcels as I am not willing to lose money while there is someone stealing my parcels which I have paid for.
Has anyone else had problems like this?
Would be very happy with some help regarding how I should go about this.

Make a formal complaint with your local delivery office. The seller should win the dispute or ebay may make a discretionary payment to you in respect of the item, but it's doubtful.

At least it sounds as if you have a helpful seller, you really need to be doing a lot of legwork yourself to find out where the parcel went.

As for your item, you cannot claim back off ebay unless you go to the police and report it, depends how much it was valued at. Inform the manager of your local sorting office , make them aware one of their staff have forged your signature.

How do you know this has happened? It could have been left with a neighbour who signed the name.

It just so happens to be fraud if someone signs your name ,end of, and there was no card left saying it was left with a neighbour, PLUS a neighbour would not sign the recipients name after all, a crime has been commited, maybe some may see it as small fry and not worth a police officers time, except it is seen as interfering with the Queen's mail ! And how many times do royal mail employees help themselves to letters, unusual but it DOES happen!

Where there is a doubt, and all avenues have been explored, it means the posties a thief! Or the OP is a liar! That is the problem, proof! As no fingerprints on a PDA!!

I was asking how you knew it was RM staff that signed the name not debating the legalities.

How do you know what a neighbour would sign?

What if the neighbour had the same name? What if it was a relative 4 doors down with the same name?

You cannot assume the postie is a thief just because you can't find out who did sign.

Thankfully most people in the real world have a modicum of common sense.

It is very worrying as there is obviously problems with the system, with mine whoever has signed for it has put my first initial of my fore name and my full surname. However the signature is nothing like mine. I hope that they can find out what has happened however I have doubts they will find out what has happened as it seems to be that someone may be stealing parcels however I am not going to accuse them straight away as it may be a genuine mistake.

My postie forged my recorded del signature and a Parcelforce driver faked a siggy too, and dumped box on step, of course not just RM who nick stuff, Yodel left a mini laptop in a garden waste bin and said on tracking left on porch.

I find that Royal Mail and Parcelforce a subsidiary are the HONEST guys here.

Theft of mail cases make it to the news all the time, they used to go to jail but now it's a community payback order , one case by me recently the woman who stuffed the special delivery envelopes in her clothing and helped herself to tens of thousands they set a plant up and caught her

What a load of rubbish, fraud is defined as: intentional deception made for personal gain or to damage another individual

If I sign my neighbour's name for their parcel and then drop it off to them later I haven't committed fraud by using their name on the PDA.

OP it's best to check with your neighbours and look in any hidden places it could be left, including recycling bins and the like.

If it isn't there you can contact the delivery office (or go there in person) and ask for the manager who should check with the postman as to where they left it.

    One thing I would add
RM have a simple system on the PDA to avert this
when leaving with a neighbour,a postie is supposed to put a *either side of the name to show an item is left with neighbour(plus leave a card obviously)

Goodness how incredibly shocking! A handful of RM employees are thieves so ALL employees are thieves.

    Judgemental much?
    ;)
