Well as predicted the kids were up at just gone 6 this morning  I think the excitement of Christmas has kicked in, goodness knows what time they'll be up on Christmas day! :rotfl:

Today we have had a lovely day, we took the children to the local nature/ animal park where they saw Father Christmas, there was loads of activities to do both inside and out so the kids burnt off a lot of their excitement whilst we were there :T I only had to pay for the drinks too as MiL paid for everyone to get in :T:D

We have another exciting day lined up tomorrow as we are off to see a pantomime (oh yes we are :D) we're meeting some friends there so we'll probably have a drink afterwards. I also need to pick up some sweets to take with us tomorrow and try not to get sucked into buying the flashy things they always sell

It will just be a store cupboard dinner and an early night tonight as the kids are all very tired. I need to do some wrapping up but every time I try to get it done I always have some 'helpers':p

    Only 5 sleeps to go :D :xmastree::santa2::xmassmile

Hope the panto was good today :) We're going on Boxing Day - it's one of our traditions now. Means we take sweets from the inevitable Xmas stash too :D

Hi Greent, the panto was actually really good, we hadn't been for a few years and it had definitely improved since the last time we went :D Boxing day is a good day to go as there isn't much going on then. We always used to go to the matinee on Christmas eve which was really lovely as it passed the day...maybe we'll do that again next year :)

Well I managed to not buy any of the flashy things that the had on sale but we did spend £3 on a programme to add to our collection :o we ended up going for lunch before though in the cafe at waitrose which cost £26  it meant we only needed toasties for dinner when we got home though.

It is the Christmas food shop day tomorrow and dh is going to go to aldi early in the morning to get everything. We managed to get hold of a Mirror with the £15 off a £75 spend voucher in so I'm hoping we can get everything from there :p I also need to pop to M&S for a few things and then hopefully we'll be ready for the big day :D

We had promised dd1 that dh and I would spend some time with her without the little ones during the holidays so MiL is looking after them while we go ice skating  I said she could choose what we would do and that is what she has chosen. It should be fun though, we'll probably get a hot chocolate afterwards too :)

Time for the apprentice final now....come on Bianca :T

Only 4 sleeps to go :xmastree::santa2::xmassmile

Well we have had a traumatic couple of days since I last posted, as I mentioned we were taking dd1 ice skating yesterday as a Christmas treat, it was all going swimmingly until 5 minutes before the end of the session where dh falls and fractures his ankle and both wrists:eek: he's now in hospital and won't be home for Christmas day :( I still have the in laws coming around and everyone is rallying to make sure we still have a nice Christmas day but I'm just so upset that dh won't be here to see the children open their presents :(

Luckily dh managed to do the Christmas food shopping before we went skating so we are well stocked up, infact he managed to spend £105 in aldi (incliding the money off!)I wouldn't have been able to do it with 3 kids in tow:eek: I think I might keep a few of the children's presents back so we can have another present opening session when he's home :)

One downside of visiting the hospital is the costs involved, it's an hours drive each way, plus at least £4 parking each time plus the coffees and snacks etc. there isn't much we can do about it though .

On the plus side it's Christmas Eve Eve :T the children are so excited and can't wait to put their stockings out tomorrow night...only 2 sleeps to go :D

What bad news :( So sorry DH won't be home for Xmas - definitely think celebrating a second, later Xmas is a good idea.

((hugs)) for you - what sort of timescale have they said for him to be out?

  • Hi Crumpets, sorry I haven't replied for ages, I have been reading but haven't posted on MSE since 5th Dec. Must try & post more as like you I feel it keeps me financially checked!

So sorry about DH, I know it's ok for me to say we've been chatting about it privately so I won't feign surprise here! But what a nightmare  You & the kids are holding up brilliantly given the events in recent days, it seems so unfair for this to happen so close to Xmas :(. You'll be dining out on this story when you're grandparents I imagine, it'll be folklore of Crumpet family Christmases of the future ;)

There's nothing you can do about the cost of hospital, you never know you might save a bit on not going out together [STRIKE]and you can eat all the Xmas chocolate and he'll never know[/STRIKE] :rotfl:

Happy 2015 to everyone on Crumpet's thread

Hello and Happy Christmas :xmastree: Thank you for all kind wishes for dh. We were really lucky yesterday and he was able to come home for a few hours to have lunch with us :T we skyped in the morning so he got to see the kids open some of their presents too, so I think we made the best of a bad job :T:)

Well yesterday was pretty chaotic and very tiring but everybody had a great day and the kids were very, very spoilt by everyone (including me :o) I also was pretty spoilt by my lovely family and friends so I'm feeling very loved :):o

I have managed to get to see dh again today, but I really must stop getting a coffee from costa each time I go  it's costing a fortune  i've also done a little bit of online sales shopping, I haven't brought anything major, just a few bits from next for the girls and some gifts for the present box. I do find it saves me money in the long run if I get nice stuff in the sales for the kids friends. We don't need anything else so I shall not be looking at any more sales...promise :o:rotfl:

Tomorrow I am starting operation tidy up the Christmas chaos  I like to find homes for all the new toys and stuff and squash down all the packaging for the recycling bin. All ready for me to do it again on Sunday as it's Ds's birthday :) that reminds me I need to get his presents out of the loft. Everything I have got him has been brought in the sales throughout the year :T he's getting a scooter and some dressing up stuff :T

I hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas, I'm off to bed for an early night in my new jim jams :D

A small update before I go to bed, I've just signed up for the 2015 MFW challenge. I've set a target of £3000 for the year which should leave me £235 to find above our regular op. I'm hoping that this will easily be achievable as I didn't reach my target for this year and that sucks
