3 sleeps to go! :xmassmile:rudolf::santa2:
Such a lovely day today, I'm sitting here with a coffee watching my washing blow about on the line! It's hard to believe we're in winter!
Today is a day for cooking, we need to make:- Mushroom wellington
- Chestnut pate
- Christmas pudding
I'm really looking forward to eating all the goodies on Christmas day!
Dh needs to pop to the shop for a couple of last minute things ( rather him than me  :rotfl:) but I think we're all ready for the big day other than that. All gifts are wrapped and now it's just a case of keeping the kids busy for the next few days
We also have ds's birthday party tomorrow morning  I think I'll feel a lot more relaxed when that is over and done with, I hate organising kids parties, luckily I've just booked a game of bowling and the other kids parents will be there so hopefully it won't be too stressful. We're not doing cake (as ds doesn't like it) or party bags so nothing to organise there :T I'm just going to give each child £2 to spend in the arcade at the bowling alley, £10 in total and no plastic tat to buy :T

Hello,
I hope everyone has had a lovely festive period! The Crumpets family have had a lovely time but I'm looking forward to getting back to normal. It's ds's birthday today so hopefully tomorrow we can have a normal day! We've spent the past 5 days with family so a day of chilling out is definitely required tomorrow!
I feel we definitely got the amount of presents right this year, they all were appreciated and played with on Christmas day, I just need to find homes for them now
I've been feeling so tired since Christmas day! I think it's because now it's all done my brain can relax! I need to get my energy levels back up so I can get the house back to normal. I'm really looking forward to the new Marie Kondo programme that is starting on new years day! That should inspire me :T
No plans for NYE yet, to be honest the way I'm feeling, I doubt I'll be able to stay awake until midnight! :rotfl: I'll be happy staying in and having a nice meal and watching a movie with DH.Mortgage March 2011 £143,927.6

Hi Crumpets glad you had a good Christmas with your family. Hope ds had a fab birthday. Hope your getting chance to relax. Is the Kondo programme on TV? My problem I've found with Kondoing is that I love something one day and then the next day I can be be hmmmm or vice verse.

Hi Crumpets, great to hear that you had a nice Christmas!
Do report back on the Marie Kondo programme, I'm quite intrigued but that one but am struggling to imagine what a TV programme would look like. I could really use a new round of KM though, so it might be just the motivation I need
Also, a nice meal and a movie sound like the perfect way to spend New Year's. Mr julicorn's flu has thrown a bit of a spanner in the works for us, so we're also not spending it with friends in Wales as usual, and will instead have a quiet evening with just the two of us as well
All the best for 2019!0 -
The MK programme is on Netflix - if you don't have NF you could sign up for the month's free trial
Was reading yesterday that it's apparently very US focussed - so big houses with different set ups to what we tend to have here in UK (eg basement storage) x

Hi everyone,
Yep the MK programme starts on January 1st. I imagine it is US based, but I don't mind that, I just marvel at how much space they have! We also enjoy watching Consumed on NF too, which is Canadian I think. It certainly inspired dd2 this morning, as she sorted out 2 bags of clothes and toys immediately after watching! :T I have already dropped them off at the charity shop, and she is suffering from de-clutterer's remorse though:rotfl:
I've been trying to sort homes for the new toys today, the Christmas toys were okay but the birthday toys have tipped the chaos over the edge  Ds refused to get rid of anything during the bedroom de-clutter this morning too  we'll get there though.
I've managed to get the kids bedding part dried on the line today, it's just finishing off on the airer now. It was so mild when I was out, I had to take my coat off! I wonder when we'll get a cold snap? :snow_grin
Mr C seems to have come down with the lurgy today so he's taken himself off to bedI've given him some of my elderberry syrup as that's supposed to be good for winter bugs. We still have Christmas leftovers to eat so I think I'll have another roast dinner tonight :rotfl: I'm quite looking forward to eating normal food now
I had a smoothie for breakfast today and red pepper and lentil soup for lunch, I'm trying to get immune boosting foods into me to perk me up :A
Hope Mr J is feeling better soon JulicornMortgage March 2011 £143,927.6

Happy New Year folks!
Our plans changed in the end and we went to a friends party, we had to take a dish to share and a bottle of wine which we already had so the cost was negligible. We didn't stay until midnight, but we did manage to stay awake to watch the fireworks when we got home :T It worked out quite well really, a mix of seeing friends and sitting on the sofa :rotfl:
So plans for 2019 are now afoot, my priorities for January are- Search for and book accommodation for our holiday in May
- Renew my passport
- Plan home ed and GCSE schedule for the coming term
- Finish off DIY projects that are ongoing
I'm sure the list will grow but that is enough for now.
I have now finished my year long challenge of buying no new clothes for 2018 - I really enjoyed this challenge, not only did it save me a lot of money but it has made me really appreciate what I really need. The only thing which I couldn't find second hand was a decent pair of jeans (I live in jeans so they're really important to me!) I have ordered myself 2 new pairs of jeans (I've gone for an ethical brand using organic cotton) so hopefully I can continue my no buying new for as much of the coming year as possible.
This year is also the last year of my 30s  so I need to think of something to mark this (I'm thinking a small tattoo, but I'm a bit of a wimp :rotfl:)
Dh is cooking us a cooked brekkie now and then I'm taking the dog for a walk to burn the calories offMortgage March 2011 £143,927.6

Crumpets that sounds like an amazing challenge! I might try that one myself. One of my plans for 2019 is to make some significant eco switches (just bought eco dishwashing pads and ordered a first set of reusable 'lady products'!) so this would be a good one to add. I love charity shopping although tbh I don't need anything even 2nd hand
I'm thinking of getting a new tattoo too - go for it!Choose kind0 -
