Hi Greent and Madvix
Yep curry course was definitely a winner, sadly we have now eaten all the goodies we bought home, so we'll just have to make some moreThe key is to make a base sauce and then all other curries can be produced from the base very quickly.
Well since the foraging session the kitchen has been a very productive place. I have a bottle of elderberry gin steeping, some elderberry, ginger and cinnamon syrup (which is supposed to good at fighting winter bugs) blackberry chia jam, a blackberry and apple pie, a crumble filling and blackberry syrup! I still have the sloes and roships to use, I may do a sloe and damson gin and a rosehip syrup. I've never made so much stuff before!! if only it wasn't all full of sugar :rotfl:
Well I have just checked the mortgage and disappointingly we are £65 over the £85K markOh well it gives me a challenge for the month doesn't it
We have finally become so fed up of the car boot pile (which has increased ten fold since dd had her clear out) that we are going to do one on Saturday! I really just want it gone so I'll be happy to sell fairly cheap. I'll have to give dd a cut but the rest will go towards the mortgage (and maybe a treat if we need it afterwards
) anything left can go straight to the charity shop...it is not coming back into this house!!
We're treating the children to a chip shop supper tonight for settling back into the routine well. DH and I are being much more healthy [STRIKE]and frugal[/STRIKE] by having hm asparagus soup and bread
Friday all ready tomorrow! I'm having my haircut, but as I'm now growing it these visits are few and far between. All covered in the budget though :TMortgage March 2011 £143,927.6

It sounds like you've been super busy with all your foraging goodies! I know what you mean about sugar, but better than the chemicals in shop-bought stuff, I think.
Good luck with the boot sale tomorrow - totally agree that it has to go to charity shop if it's not sold -after the effort of getting it out of the house, you just don't want to take it back in! Surely that will cover your £65?Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I hope it will cover the £65 MV, but we will have to wait until tomorrow to find out. The car boot sale was cancelled today due to the weather forecast - it didn't turn out too badly though.
So instead of making money today, we ended up spending moneyWe took the little ones to the trampolining park, at least they burnt off their energy, and it gave dh and I an hours peace to sit and drink coffee - we did take our own coffees with us though :A
It has been cold today, I have to keep fighting the urge to put the heating on...must keep it off until October
So hopefully we will have better luck with the boot sale tomorrow - I will report backMortgage March 2011 £143,927.6

Good luck today with the boot sale!
I know what you mean about cold yesterday - we were freezing and yes, my mind kept wandering to the heating.... and then a firm voice in my head chirped up! It's very hard though when it's been so warm this summer!
I can imagine that trampolining is expensive, but well done for taking your coffees. What always amazes me is the number of people who take their children to soft play (the one near us is incredibly expensive!) when it's glorious sunshine outside!! It was definitely an indoorsy type of day yesterday though!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Well, we did the boot sale, it was okay. It felt like we sold loads of stuff, but them we came home with loads of stuff too
- Made about £30 after giving dd a cut. So not as much as I'd hoped but better than nothing. We're contemplating doing another one on Wednesday with the rest of the stuff...something to ponder upon
I did get a few things whilst at the boot sale which definitely saved me money, I got some autumn boots for dd2 and a hoodie for ds for £3. Both needed and would have been ££ new :T
I have also listed 2 things on the bay and I have a bag of books to give to a friend so all in all quite productive.
I have 2 loads of washing on the line today, need to make the most of these drying days now.
I'm going to make my damson gin now and then settle down with the frugalwoods blog - if the dc will let me :cool:Mortgage March 2011 £143,927.6

Hi madvix
I know what you mean about soft play and lovely weather - we try to keep expensive indoor activities as miserable weather treats. saying that though, we did go the softplay area in the height of the summer to get out of the heat!...they always have air con on :rotfl:
I was the same with the heating yesterday, I had a little voice in my head telling me to keep the heating off...it worked :AMortgage March 2011 £143,927.6

Well done on the boot sale - sounds like a good result! Wednesday sounds like an odd day for a boot sale though?
Oh, I can understand why you'd have gone in the really hottest part of the summer to soft play - air con was definitely needed then!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Well it's a miserable morning here but DH has just gone off to do a car boot sale, bless him :heart2:. I hope it's worth it. This is our final attempt, then it can go to the charity shop. I did mange to find some more stuff to go, so hopefully we'll make a bit of profit.
I made a bit of a boo boo yesterday. I booked train tickets for us all to go on a mini city break and I realised afterwards that the day we return is the day we have tickets to go and see a comedian we really like. Train tickets are non changeable or refundable so it looks like I'll have to try and sell the comedian tickets(they were DH's birthday present too
) Bah. Nothing is ever simple
I also listed 3 items on the bay yesterday so fingers crossed they'll sell, Goodness knows why the house is still overflowing with stuff!!
I'm enjoying reading the Frugalwoods blog that theMadvix has recommended, she has a great writing style. I just wish I had more time to sit and lose myself in homesteading in Vermont
I'll update later on weather the car boot was a success or not :cool:Mortgage March 2011 £143,927.6

Well getting up early and going to the rainy car boot was definitely not worth it! We made the entry fee back and a bit more, so not a complete disaster but I don't think well bother doing them again. The rest of the stuff has now gone to the charity shop so hopefully they'll have better luck!
I have made a £20 OP out of the profits from the sale and the rest of it went towards paying for the chimney sweep which we had done yesterday. At least we know we can light the stove once it gets colder. I have lots of wood to chop up for kindling so I need to get onto doing that.
My fleabay items aren't doing great either - maybe it's just the wrong time of the year??
We're going camping today - probably the final trip of the year. I really can't wait to get to the coast an have a brisk walk along the beach. I'm planning on fish and chips by the sea tonightMortgage March 2011 £143,927.6

Hope camping was fun! I like walking on the beach at the end of the day when everyone else has left
Not much happening on flebay here at the mo, either....
