Reasonable time to receive keys to a property

Van hire isn't that expensive is it? Just get for an extra day - how much?0

It is about £40 more to hire for an extra day. This is money I simply don't have. I have already had to spend £75 on the van + £35 to sleep in a B&B for the night. I am a student, I don't have enough money left.0

Again ..... why don't you just phone them up and ask for the keys in the morning.0

So I am renting a new property from 1st July. I have hired a van for the weekend and have to give it back at 1pm on the 1st July.
You have hired the van for the weekend, and arranged to have it back by 1pm on Monday July 1st. It now turns out that you need it until later in the day on 1st July, so why not change the pick-up time to later on Saturday (ie moving the 48 hrs) or pick it up Sunday and take it back Tuesday.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -

Because I am being kicked out of my current property at 3pm on Saturday. Any later and I wouldn't be able to pack the van.
This isn't the issue at the moment. The issue is whether I can legally require my lettings agents to give me the keys at a reasonable time on move-in day. I do not think that 4.30pm is reasonable, and I mean legally reasonable.0 -

OP, have you signed your tenancy agreement/paid your deposit/holding deposit?
Yes I paid it a few months ago. I've looked through and there isn't anything particular about moving in times.0 -

I didn't see that post.
Sounds like they are being massively cheeky to be honest.
I'd seriously phone up and demand to speak to a manager and tell them your not happy about having to wait around all day whilst your being charged rent.
Tell them you need to be in earlier, simple as that.
If the landlord wants to carry out repairs etc. then it's pretty outrageous that he expects to do it whilst charging you and denying you access.0 -
