let's be fair - - he has made a huge positive difference to many people. I still love the MSE forum, and there is still a lot of very useful information on the main site.0

Can I just echo that comment
As somebody recently out of I.V.A the information on this section of this site has really useful.
In terms of helping me obtain normal financial services again this forum has been a real practical help.
A big thanks to all the regular contributors

Thought I'd add my post here instead of a new thread - I've just opened a Halifax Current Account and they done two credit searches instead of one (the second when I went in with ID).
Is it worth writing off to have one removed before attempting to get a contract phone or will two credit searches from the same company be unlikely to cause issues?0 -
Are they both tagged "credit search: current account application"? Or is one of them tagged "ID generic enquiry" or similar?marathonic wrote: »Thought I'd add my post here instead of a new thread - I've just opened a Halifax Current Account and they done two credit searches instead of one (the second when I went in with ID).

ie the second one may be an unrecorded enquiry, which isn't visible to others searching your file.0 -

Both are tagged "Current Account Application"...0 -
They've probably got it covered in the T&Cs/privacy statement, but I'd complain anyway and see what they do.marathonic wrote: »Both are tagged "Current Account Application"...
There's generally no need to make 2 full credit searches for the one product...unless there was a considerable delay between the application and providing the ID requested?0 -

The timing was 22nd May application and 3rd June ID provision.
I rang them up and they said I need to send details in writing. A lot of hassle for what will probably not impact a phone application anyway.
Any credit that requires manual checking of my credit record will use common sense and see that it's a duplicate search. Not so sure about the automated applications though.
The thing is, I'm also interested in a First Direct application at some point. I wonder how they'd view it.0 -
Since the name of the lender searching your file isn't shown to other lenders I'm not sure any "common sense" can be applied.marathonic wrote: »Any credit that requires manual checking of my credit record will use common sense and see that it's a duplicate search. To anyone searching your file it may (will?) look like 2 current account applications...in the space of a couple of weeks.0 -
Amy the OP obviously to embarrassed to check back in after wasting money on her meaningless scores.
Hopefully she's already cancelled her Experian subscription"You know when it's cold outside when you go outside and it's cold"0 -

No actually wasnt going to waste my time replying to a bunch of prats like the majority of people who have replied. Im NEW to all of this (probably the reason I came to a forum to ask for ADVICE!!!). I was given the advice to sign up for the free credit report by a finacial adviser (also a family friend) and for £3.00 a month thought ill leave that on so I can keep an eye on things! There is never any need to be nasty and and just generally poke fun at someone on a advice forum!!
I wont waste my time next time I need advice!
(FYI I now have the joint account with Lloyds with the overdraft I wanted!)
Thanks for Nothing0
