I recently installed Firefox browser. On https://www.speedtest.net I got the following results:
Ffox = d/l 5785 u/l 367 latency 75 - IE7 = d/l 4213 u/l 370 latency 123
Is firefox really giving me quicker downloads than IE7. Also is it safe to use for internet banking etc?

I use Firefox all the time. Not sure about the speedtest to be honest but I do my banking on it and it seems to be safe. I think it brought out anti-phishing features before IE.

Don't know if firefox is faster at downloading, thats more to do with your internet connection, but it uses much less computer resources than IE7 so will be quicker on your machine, for booting up and multiple tabs etc.
I use firefox and thunderbird, for email and net and my computer does run better for it.0 -
FF has been known to suffer a memory leak, since IE7 was released into the wilds I have not used FF as I only need a browser that browses and multiple tabs. Too many add ons and lack of quality control can leave FF bloated if you are not careful.
FF handles threading slightly differently so you might see a better download speed if you are lucky but you are more likely to see better page load times due to how FF handles pages against how IE waits till it has more of the page before putting it onto the screen.0
