N Power & Refunds

Hello everyone,

We are having issues with N Power and i am rapidly getting fed up. The situation stands that when we moved house in 2010 they has issues with our electric combinded with the fact they would estimate our bills after we sent metre readings in it was a mess. As a result we ended up in credit by 800 pounds still having a Direct debt over 100 quid a month. After many ignored complaints out of no where they sent us 200 quid back and then told us they could reclaim (They got told suitable where to go!?) we were still in credit and given them reading so you would think everything was good.

BUT i gave a reading for electric and some of the staff thought it had "gone round the wheel" so basically we had gone from 900-1100 which made sense but after a lot of calls/ meter readings & complaints we are now 727 in credit, meter reading given and i have told them in no uncertain terms i want my credit fund back, or i will stop paying my direct debt untill the credit fund runs out.

Is everyone else having same issues and if so what tactics did you use to sort it?

i am debeating the theft line if they refuse to send it back its our money and we have pad our debt to them so why should they earn the interest on it

Any thoughts suggestions would be grateful im a sick of wasting time trying to sort it and 3 months later we are in same position.

**Forgot they have said it will take 28 days to bill accounts and refund and send money back -this is not the fist time i have heard this so i think hard ball after 28 days although i think its a silly long time to refund monies

Many thank
M:)

I wouldn't suggest you stop paying monthy by DD to nPower - they offer very good discounts for doing so (paid annually) which you will miss out on.

I suggest you raise a complaint in line with their complaints procedure.
They have 8 weeks to resolve such complaints before you can take such a complaint to the ombudsman (the final stage of their complaint procedure)
  • cheers i will try that, i felt like if i stopped paying maybe that would force them to listen so ill try complaints procedure:)

    Hi

We recently moved from npower to Edf for this same reason. We were over £200 in credit. They would not refund us. They wanted to use it against future bills.then they upped our DD from £33 to £46. In the end we left them. I definitely wouldn't use them again
