Replacement rights? Heavily discounted item faulty.

Options
Hi there. I wonder if anytone could clear up what I should do in this case.

Earlier in the year, I bought some cycling shoes back in January and a couple of days ago the clasp broke.

I can get a replacement for the clasp at a cost of £20 which I will do if all else fails.

I bought them from Amazon at a heavily discounted price of £37, compared to the usual retail price of £190. They are still on sale at this price.

The problem is that when I contacted Amazon all they said was that they couldn't replace them as they no longer stock them. They did offer a full refund but obviously this is not to my advantage.

Do I have the right to insist on a replacement here?

In short no, the retailer can choose the cheapest option for them and as long as they either refund, replace or repair they will meet their obligations

Not if they don't have them, no. Is it Amazon who stock them and not a market place seller?

When you say "this price" do you mean £37 or £190 ? ( I presume the latter, as otherwise surely you just accept their offer of a refund and use the momey to but a new pair ).

You can't force them to offer you a replacement, offering a full refund is perfectly legit.

Did you not buy the old model and the current ones are the 2013 model?

Offering a partial refund is perfectly legit too ;)
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride
