Morning
Please can anyone help me decide which tog is best for my (almost) 2 year old daughter?
I am currently looking at a 4.5 or 9 tog. She has always been in Grobags, the one she has now is 2.5, but these are becoming too restrictive for her so I want a duvet.
Do i get the 4.5 and pile blankets on top for when its cold, or do I get the 9 tog and only put a thin sheet on her if its hot?
This may seem like a silly question but i want whats best for her, and of course not to buy one and wish i had got the other and end up buying 2, not very money saving!!

I would personally go for the warmer one, as you can always just put a thin blanket over her when it's too warm for a duvet.
Piling blankets on top of duvets when it's cold can be very restrictive for a little one who no doubt wriggles quite a lot in the night.
That's my thoughts anyway HTH.

I got a lower tog and pop a thin fleece over when it is colder.
My thinking was, even in the summer it gets chilly in the night, and i didnt want him waking up cold. He does kick the covers off him early evening in the warm weather, but i cover him back up when i go to bed so he stays warm through the night."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." I got my DD this when she went into a big girls bed http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/1270860/Trail/C%24cip%3D49764.Furniture%2Band%2Bfurnishings%3EC%24cip%3D49765.Bedding%3EC%24cip%3D49775.Duvets.htm
I liked it because you got the pillow and a mattress protector too
she is perfectly warm in the winter and in the summer she tends to kick it off and use her blankie (a thin blanket she has had since birth) or a sheet instead.0 -
I personally have a 4.5 on my daughter( she is 20 mths) and if it is chilly put a fleece blanket over the top. It is still light enough for her to kick off but also enough to keep her warm on chilly nights. I would aslo suggest a room thermometer so you can gauge what you need to put on her.
Hope that helps you0 -
I would get the 4.5 and add a fleece if needed. You'll find it will need washing often enough and it will go inthe machine easily.0

I had a 10.5 tog one for my son. Now he is 4yrs old he sweats something cronic at night. I tried the blanket but he swaps back to the duvet. I think its a comfort thing but he ends up dripping.
I was in Dunnelm mill store and they had a pile of 4 tog single duvets for under £5. Bought one and problem fixed. They have an online store but don't know how much the postage would be.0 -
my 4 yr old hates his 10.5 tog one - hes way too hot so I bought him a 4.5 one and like the others say stick a fleece over it if its really cold.Sealed pot challenge 822

Ditto above, exactly what I bought my DD when she was 1. Shes now 2 and a half and never had any probs, in the summer I take it off and just give her a blanket though. BTW when she was in a cot I used to tuck half on it under the bottom of the mattress.0 -
I'm another one with a sweaty toddler :rotfl: so would go for the thinner one. Little kids are like little heaters, in my experience anyway0
