My insurer is still waiting for reports from the assessors/engineers so I hope that tomorrow will be the beginning of the end!!

This sounds like you are being given a courtesy car rather than a replacement.

Check your policy to see what you are entitled to.

If you are getting your entitlement then see if the garage can help with a bigger model or bite the bullet and hire for your holiday.
