Im looking for more information on arrangement to pay on credit file. I defaulted on several accounts, last default is registered until may 2017 but two accounts were not defaulted. One credit card is closed (active on credit file) but I need to clear balance and getting charged interest but showing ok on credit file each month since paying slightly more than minimum payment. The other account is also closed(active on credit file) but im not getting charged interest and paying more than the minimum but an arrangement to pay still shows on credit file. How long will an arrangement to pay affect my credit score. Am I right in thinking its only 3 years lenders go back for payment history, but ccj's & defaults show up for 6 years. So if I pay off the balance on credit card with arrangement to pay in the next 6 months will it still affect my credit file after last default drops off on may 2017.

Lenders can view your previous six years credit history.

    Ignore the credit score.

Clear the debt as soon as possible. As its time which will heal your credit profile.

The account that has an Arrangement to Pay on (assuming it is not defaulted) will come off your credit file SIX years after the date it is SETTLED. So if you settle it this December, it will be December 2019 before it comes off your credit file.
