First time Renting with bad credit

Hi,
Me and my boyfriend are currently saving to move into a rented flat. We both live at home with our parents at the moment.
We both have had bad debt , his was before I met him which he has now paid every penny off and mine was more recent and my parents have helped me out.
I checked on checkmyfile.com and on my credit rating it says:
597 seen by lenders and 2 red stars (bad)
867 seen by landlors/employers (good)
My question is are we going to struggle when they do the credit checks on us? We both have a couple of defaults on our file.

Possibly, but some places will accept you with a guarantor. Maybe your parents?0

Thanks for the reply.
my parents are already are guarantor's for my brother on his rented flat.
They have already helped me out so much, I've asked but they will not be our guarantor's.
We both work full time. I take around 13k home and parner 27k.
I'm really worried that we will struggle.0 -
My credit file is far from ideal, and I've never had any problems renting (now coming onto my third rental in two years).
As far as I know, they can only see CCJs, IVAs and bankruptcies.0 -

Me neither, but I do have a string of defaults on several accounts (some settled, some ongoing).
I've never needed a guarantor, and my salary is less than half of than your combined salary, and I've rented as much as £550pcm.0 -

We are looking at 2 beds from £850 - £1000 (surrey expensive!).0 -
Sunderland is a damn sight cheaper
I still can't see that being an issue, provided you have the affordability. The credit check would be the same.0 -
