So i've decided to start an 'upcycling shabby chic' business on facebook. was just wondering what the best and most effective way to get my name out?
I was thinking maybe a competition but then i was wondering how to get the competition around?

To be honest, you need to do four things. I worked for a client who was based in the USA that does exacally what you are looking for.
Firstly, you will need a real Facebook page doing, not just open a business page with them. It will copy or update from your site.
Then you need a blog where you can tell people about projects you are doing and what's coming soon. That way you end up getting interest. For example say I was looking for a Wardrobe that was 6ft 6in tall with a rubbed rustic red colour, I could see your blog post about "later this week I will be getting on to sorting out a double wardrobe, any preference for colour?" I could see that and contact you, telling you of my requirements, which, no doubt, you would end up doing. Pre-sales done for you!!!
Lots of twitter, main page Facebook posting and hoot suite to kill all your birds with one stone,
Finally I did a big set up project two years ago got a website called "Pinterest" it IS the site that artisans now use to list their projects, commissions and works. You will see exactly what you intend to do there and it's a big ticket site.
It's a great format if I might say so myself :rotfl:
Then you set up an eBay shop, Paypal account to sell and collect the cash!
Good luck, if you need anything else answering, just ask. What I have said may sound a lot, but its not. It is a way to have a presence inside a month or so that people pay tens of thousand getting sorted.0 -
Thats the million dollar question. If you knew the answer you could sell anything. I'd suggest talking to your local journalists to see if they can make a story out of it - thats the best way if they agree that is.0

i have two set commual boards on Pinterest for people to join Shabby chic and DECOUPAGE i started on Facebook when first started with my business, network group help me set it up.. to be honest i never had anything from Facebook other than 100's of comments ooooh lovely comments and thats it, facebook as a selling media is very poor but great if you just like comments better off setting up a shop on ebay and sell there on the buy it now or make an offer. find useful to have as storage place for photos and ideas and as they say.. I am out there if needed..0
