Car Insurance, Multicar and Cashback sites

I've got 4 car policies due for renewal tomorrow. In the past we've insured on a family fleet policy but this year I've canned it due to the problems with getting my 6 siblings to give me the relevant information, getting them to cough up their share, and the remit and risk of the family fleet policy has been spread from a 9 person family to over 25 people when spouses and relatives have been gradually added. That and the headache of administration - every time someone wants an amendment it's me that arranges it, pays the additional premium and never get paid back.

So from my experience this year I thought I'd hit Quidco and TCB with some attractive offers such as £80+ cashback on some policies.

So I spent ages clicking through Quidco and TCB and plugging in the details and ended up with premiums at an average of £450.

As a comparison I went direct through each Insurers website and the cost was comparable but still expensive.

In the end I went onto Moneysupermarket and Comparethemarket and found that the average cost for each policy was £300, a saving of £150 over the cashback sites without the risk of cashback not being paid and waiting donkeys for it.

So in my experience it was worth ditching the cashback sites and going through the aggregators. Note: I did adjust all policies for identical excesses, protected no claims etc.

The cost of Legal Expenses cover was up to £39.99 on some sites and if you just google Car Legal Cover you can get it for £5-£10 per year!
