Halifax to force Self-Service on Cardcash & Easycash customers

the halifax should use some of its vast profits and employ more staff so it can provide counter service to all customers!. it would be useful if someone can draft a standard letter which we could all use, if we want to complain. having access to a counter service should be a basic right? applicable to all who have an account- irrespective of amount! this building society just get worse and worse!0

I am a Halifax customer, holding several accounts with them, including a credit card. My nearest Halifax is actually just an agency rather than a branch.
When Halifax and Bank of Scotland 'merged', the cash machines at agencies stopped accepting deposits. I was annoyed as I found it more convenient to deposit via an ATM.
It seems that others do not feel the same way as me, and prefer to deposit 'over the counter'. So, why not look out for your nearest 'agency' and deposit over the counter? As far as I know, none of the agencies have post boxes for accepting deposits.
For current account holders, the change from Switch debit cards to VISA debit cards is actually a benefit, as VISA offer a form of protection on their debit card similar to that offered by s75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974. I am not sure if that also applies to their Electron card available on Basic Bank accounts. If it does, I would suggest that actually makes the Electron card better than the Solo card, especially if most online retailers will treat the Electron Card like a normal VISA card.
The inability to deposit over the counter is, I suppose, a natural progression of the system that applies to withdrawls. You cannot withdraw monies over the counter of £300 or less as cash machines will accept daily withdrawal limits of that amount.0 -
I'm with Nationwide and the branch in my town has a machine where you can pay in cheques, cash, etc, as well as make withdrawals, balance enquiries, and even buy phone credit.
I love it and I use it whenever I can. It's very fast, it's inside the branch so you're not waving stuff around on the street..it scans the money and cheques then and there so you know it has the right amount (you verify it) and you can even have a picture of the cheque on the receipt.
Deposits are credited to your account instantly. I'm a big fan!0
