So the journey started on January 11th with the sale of our house, 7 viewings and multiple offers finally sold 2 weeks later. So we went on the search and found a house we liked the week after and had an offer accepted. March 18th survey completed on our house and our purchase, mortgage offers recieved the following day. All searches completed and ready to exchange. Fast forward to end of April and the house we were purchasing became very slow to deal with, we decided to exchange on our house as there was going to be an estimated 2 week gap to which we would live in a hotel. May 3rd exchanged on our house, completion date June 3rd. May 10th the owners of the house we were buying decided that wasn't sure they wished to sell anymore and would contact us the end of may, this was the last straw for us having already been patient we decided to pull out and move into rental. Managed to find another house very quickly that had been on the market a few weeks, bigger, better location for us and £50k cheaper, offer accepted one week after pulling out of previous house. So now we come to today saw the solicitor this morning who feels we can complete at the end of this month and we completed in our home this afternoon.
Not quite how we thought the buying and selling process would go, but we took a risk as the sale was far more important to us and hopefully by the end of the month the journey will all be over and we can settle once again
Good luck to all those buying and selling, it's testing at times but rewarding

Wow - you've had some ups and downs! I am hoping to exchange this week - touch wood my purchase has gone pretty smoothly (so far) but the whole thing's an epic saga at the best of times isn't it! :-)
Well done on finding another great property so quickly - and best of luck with your new house. Hopefully now you can take a bit of a breather for a week or two and then look forward to being in your new home at the end of the month0 -

Congratulations!
Lovely to read such a positive ending after what must have been such a disapointment and very annoying.
We are in process of buying, all has been okay so far but seems to be going rather slow and we are getting a little fed up with the waiting!
So its nice to read someone elses good news!
Hope you enjoy your new home!:)0 -
Oh well done on biting the bullet and securing your sale and kicking the useless first vendors into touch.
Double bubble to get a better house so quickly.
As my late mother in law would have said 'What's for ya 'll not go by ya'You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose.0 -
Well done! That 50k will feel really good over the coming months... especially when the original house rots on the market for month after month...0

It's really good when life works out! We had similar 3 years ago, ended up buying a house that was £105k CHEAPER than the one we initially wanted. It's far better (with hindsight!) and we love it to bits. And with the money saved, we've just had an amazing extension and new kitchen done, so it really is perfect. Or will be once I've finished cleaning and sorting new kitchen (they literally finished last night :-)0

Thanks everyone
The house that fell through was taken off the market yesterday, at the time I was very angry and upset having waited what felt like forever spending money and indeed losing £4k on early mirtgage settlement. However we have found a better mortgage which recoups this money over the next five years, so not to bad. We are apparently still on track to complete the new purchase by the end of the month but in the back of my mind I think it will be more mid July, but as long as it all goes through I'll be very happy
The £50k saving is quite a bit saved per month on the mortgage so we are really happy with that.
So they say children, marriage and home buying are the 3 most stressful things in life, well hopefully all three will have been completed by the end of the month so I look forward to a happy stress free life0 -
Great story with a nice happy ending.
We are in the process of buying. The first house we tried to buy had a dire survey so we withdrew, the one we are buying now is sooooo much nicer......:D It wasn't on the market when we first started looking.
These things do tend to have a habit of turning out right in the end....
If you lose a house you want, there is nearly always another one just waiting to be discovered.
Houses are bit like buses, none for ages and then three all at once:rotfl::rotfl:.0 -
LL absolutely agree!
This move as been two years of waiting as we sold in 2011 to a cash buyer and a week before exchange they decided that had no money, wouldn't mortgage and didn't even contact their solicitor to pull out the process it indeed took him over a week to speak to the buyer.
I do believe had this house been on the market at the same time as the 1st house we would never have looked at the first house with the price difference
I hope in the next two weeks ill be posting that we have exchanged and then finally I will relax and start to plan how we would like to change the new home, Pinterest is a wonderful thing to keep house ideas!
How far into the process are you?0
