Reward Account asking for employers details

I'm in the process of applying for the Halifax reward current account which was advertised as not needing a salary to apply...........why do they ask for employers details if this is the case?.......Just curious.

Thanks

Its standard with most applications these days, they want to know if your employed and will possibly be using the account to have your salary paid into it.

The Halifax reward account requires at least £750 to be funded to the account as well as 2 direct debits to be taken from the account to get the £5 reward.

You don't need a salary as such but you do need to fund it with £750!!!!

Probably so if you default for what ever reason they can hound you at work.

I have had them ring my employer to confirm I actually worked there, then they got put through to me to ask if I was the one who applied before creating the account and sending out the cards.

They don't care if you pay your salary in there or not, but they do want to make sure what you put on your application is correct and that you do have a job.

I suppose my application made them curious as the address of my job is 50+ miles away from the home address that I wrote down.
