Green Deal - £300 surveyor fee

Wife today had a long call with someone called Green Deal who went on for ages about cavity wall, loft insulation, new boiler etc.

Then when it came down to it they booked us in for a survey and slipped in that it cost £300....

Sounds like those people who have made a living charging for getting grants on your behalf off the government. Never heard of them before.

Tell them you will allow them to do a survey if they pay YOU £300 in cash on arrival !

I can't help thinking that the Green Deal is just a scheme invented by the government to make it look like they are doing something eco-friendly, without having to pay a penny themselves.

You have to pay for the survey, then if you have any work done, the cost is added to your utility bills. So it's just a form of credit in disguise.

Looking at the info on this site, it seems most do it for about £120. So I reckon these ones who phone up charge a bit more because they can sign people up easily.

And also they tried to say they were the official government ones. They're not - just another company doing this.
