BT Telegraph pole on my land - what are my rights ?

I've recently purchased a 2 story property that has a courtyard at the back with a BT Telegraph positioned in the courtyard.
I guess the previous owner allowed this and probably had some kind of agreement with them.
In time i'd like this removing if possible - what are my rights here as the new owner ? My hope is i can instruct BT to relocate it at their cost.
TIA,
Mike.

Not much to be honest.
You need to look up "Wayleaves & Easements" as this what they will have. I'm not sure if this should have been picked up by your solicitor but if you didn't ask about it then he won't have asked the question.0 -
They are hardly likely to move it at their cost. they might consider it if you offer to pay!
We have 3 poles on our land (farm) and they pay us wayleave every year to allow them lifelong access for repairs and maintenance. Not a lot (I think we get around £40 total) but lived here for 20 years and they have only ever needed access once, and that was to fix a fault on my 'phone, so not bad payment for doing nothing!
Why do you want it moved? How many properties does it serve?0 -

The better question is "what are BT's rights?"

It's an eyesore and also the courtyard will become 2 parking spaces so it's hinders access a bit.
I thought they were moving away from overhead cabling ?
Will look up Wayleaves & Easements0 -
You didn't think to investigate this before you purchased?0

I also get paid way leave on some agricultural land I own, it about £40 but I still have to declare it to the tax man!0 -
Overhead cabling is often the only commercially viable way to provide service to customers. It is probably sited there for good reason, moving it whilst possible is probably very costly0

Seen this before, it will be down to you to pay if you want it moving and it won't be cheap.0

Not a lot you can do about it really!
The Great Declutter Challenge - £8760 -
I had one in my back garden. £12 per year cheque.
Out of the blue they asked if I would mind terribly if they moved it to the front garden next to the road, but still just inside my boundary hedge as it would be easier for them to access. I agreed and have fascinating photos of the job.
You could ask, but they are under no obligation.0
