Hi, I wonder if somebody could offer me a bit of advice please. I know it is a bit of an open ended question but any help would be greatly appreciated.

We switched to NPower last November paying £91 a month for Gas and Elec. We have just had a bill through advising that we are £466 in arrears, thus meaning that the usage for the 6 months is £1012. Is this about right for a 4 bed house with 2 adults and a 5 and 4 year old?

Many thanks
July £3 a day - £5.46/£100

The average dual fuel bill is now in excess of £1250.
What you need are your actual or estimated annual kWh figures: £££'s DD's tell you nothing about actual usage.
Your summer-winter consumption will be hugely different, so £1000+ in the coldest 6m is not impossible.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Depends upon usage really and how much central heating used..

My Annual Gas Usage is 14,750 Kwh (2 Year average..)
My Annual Electric Usage is 3,900 Kwh (2 Year average..)..

Do you use electric drier? Is someone at home a lot so gas usage higher - say beyond 1hr morning - and set periods of the day..
    How old is the boiler?

    What are the sources used?

Heating - Gas? What Temperature is main thermostat set to - they say 1% lower on temp saves 15%!..

Hot Water - is it Combi Boiler or Tank Based.

Nope, that is not any help - even without showering 703 kWh is not a sensible number for eight months. I take it you mean 703 metric meter units which is about 8,800 kWh.

Could be sensible for eight "summer months" (no heating) but I agree in this case, since the last eight months included the longest winter in years.

Apologies I completely misread my bill

    1710 kwh for electricity
    and 5870 kwh for gas

Sorry for being unhelpful, I just found it useful whe other people posted how much they used as I used to have no idea

    Not unheard of though.

My flat had meter readings of 1365 in May 2012 and 1419 in March 2013.

    1419 - 1365 = 54
    54 x 1.02264 = 55.22256 x 39 (CV) = 2153.67984
    2153.67984 x 0.277778 = 598 kwh.

2 bedroom flat with gas central heating. Occupied often as one person term time only.
