Burton M6 Travelodge - access from east?

Wondering if anybody who lives in the area knows if you can get across from the M6 Burton travelodge to Kirkby Lonsdale, via the small roads which seem to exist on the map, but not when you try to do an AA route plan?

As the TL is only on the M6 northbound, the AA obviously expect you to use the M6 to get to and from, but there must be some way of getting there for locals who work there and maybe live in Kirkby? Otherwise there would be a 20 mile round trip each shift!

Reason for asking is, folks are staying in a cottage in Kirkby Lonsdale and we wanted to stay somewhere cheap and nearby. Not if we have to ask them for such massive lifts, though!

Looks like that services can be accessed via Tarn Lane. Google have the access road down as one-way but the satellite photograph shows it as being two way. I would call them and confirm however, as the satellite photograph could be out of date.

    Route map.

The last time I stayed at a similar service station hotel there was a barrier and once you stayed you could have the code which I believe they changed from time to time.
Ring and ask the hotel. I imagine you won't be the first to ask this.

Thanks very much, both - ringing the hotel I shall try right away (if I can find the phone number - they hide them well.....)

Streetview confirms it is two way, however there are no-entry signs, so worst case scenario you might have to walk that last bit.

    Hi,

We used to stay there regularly & you can definitely get to it from off the motorway - it is a few years back since we stayed there thou.

Yes you most certainly can, I used to commute that way (well, not from the travelodge but I went past it). Unless its changed recently there are no barriers or no entry signs. As you come into the services off the motorway you take a very sharp left off the sliproad and it takes you onto the lanes. You turn left out of the access road, going over a bridge, and thus you are on the way to Kirkby.

The roads to Kirkby from thereon in are absolutely glorious in Summer too!
