Have just had to sack conveyancers

I've been very concerned about my conveyancers, Action Conveyancing, for the last couple of weeks. They've not been responding to emails and voicemail messages - my case worked has been completely impossible to contact. They were supposed to provide a questionnaire to the building society before the mortgage offer could be made and after two weeks they've still not done it, the building society have faxed it three times and could not get through on the phone last week. This was the last straw.
I've had a conveyancer recommended to me by my IFA and have asked them to take over. Took me 30 minutes to get through to Action Conveyancing and they didn't even try to get me to stay.
I've updated my EA and asked them to contact the buyer and reassure them that this will be better for them in the long term (I'm paying an extra £400 for the service) and contacted my seller's EA and explained it to them.
The building society say they are still processing my mortgage application and anticipate this taking up to two more weeks anyway so hopefully this hasn't caused too much disruption.
However, if things had gone on like this with Action Conveyancing I can't imagine the sale and purchase would have happened.

You have done the right thing. Remember, they are 'meant' to be working for you!0

FYI the new firm is called Gordon Brown solicitors. Not sure if that's a good omen or what! Ha!0 -
Update - new conveyancers are in a different league. Right2move secured them on Monday. I got all the paperwork on Wednesday by email, printed it out, completed it and got it back in and they'd sent a contract off to the buyer on Friday morning. I've called my paralegal three times and each time she's picked up the phone straight away. I think these people have done more work in 3 days than the previous conveyancers did in about 3 weeks.0

Just had an email from paralegal, the management company are asking for £260 to provide a seller's pack. I wanted to check something and yet again I got through on the phone first time. It's like a dream come true!0

Well done, looks like you made a wise decision.
The more I read about other people's solicitors, the more I appreciate how lucky we have been with ours.
Perhaps we should start a recommend a good conveyance thread...?Debt £26k 18/10/140 -

Although I've been through a purchase once I just never thought that there could be such a difference in performance between one firm of solicitors and another.
I've recommended Gordon Brown Legal to my neighbours who are just going on the market. Easier2move were very good as an agency and between the two of them the service has been great.
I also have to say that easier2move was recommended to me by my financial advisor (and no, I'm not hugely moneyed up, I just approached them years ago and every time I make a major financial decision I run it by them - they seem to be in it for the long-term as I'm hardly a big money client, but they have proven to be worth every penny) Haymarket IFA.
I will, however, wait till the process is concluded before I give a complete recommendation of the solicitors - there's still plenty for them to get sort out. However, they have earned my confidence so far.0 -
