Holiday entitlement

Hi I work for a cleaning company and get the 28 days holiday a year including bank holidays but now the holidays are going onto hours instead of days which I don't really understand.
I work four hours a day-and have been given 123 hours holiday a year-I was quite pleased because I thought that every time I took a day off-it would only be four hours out of my 123 entitlement which worked out quite well for me but our manager went on to say about 56% pro rata which I don't understand at all -can anyone shed any light on this for me please and simplify it for me.

Seems odd
112 hrs would be the equivalent of your old 28 days allocation
123hrs @ 56% doesn't make any sense to me0 -

That is correct, this is how this should be worked out but on 112 hours.
Where does pro rata come from? 123 hours is already a pro rata of full time equivalent but the correct amount of your entilement based on 28 days per year at 4 hours per day should be 112 hours. So no idea where the 123 hours came from or how they want to calculate pro rata at 56% from that?
Unless you are not working 4 hours every day??0 -

OP is working 4 hours a day Monday to Friday and also 3 hours on Saturdays.
There isn't any extra statutory entitlement for working more than 5 days/week but the employer may offer more if they wish.0 -
If the OP was getting holidays for the Saturday hours (wherever they came from) that would be an extra 17 hours on top of the 112 hrs stat minimum so wouldn't add up to 123hrs..
To get a stat minimum of 123 hrs holiday the OP would have to work 22 hrs per week over 5 days so if she only works 20 hours she is getting enhanced hols.

OP do you have a written contract?
If so, what exactly does your contract say about your hours?I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
My contract says about 28 days including bank holidays , the hours query is because my bosses boss came in and told us what hours we were entitled to a year and that's when he started on about pro rata0
