Motor theft claim excluded by deception clause

You may have a case - the actual theft was someone jumping into the car when you were present. That is when you lost the vehicle. This is subtly different from allowing someone to drive off in a car that they have 'purchased' and then finding out that the payment they made won't be honoured.

I understand your pain as I had almost same incident happen to me where the car was stolen while on the test drive and the insurance company is throwing out the claim on basis of 'theft by deception'. :mad:

As mentioned above, a complaint needs to be brought to the company, and if this is not reviewed to your satisfaction, the FOS may seek to overturn the decision of the insurer.
