Compost for lettuce?

Hello :p

I've got some Tomorite compost I bought for my tomatoes. I didn't use it as a grow bag but put it into pots and they are doing great.

I've got some left over and wanted to know if this is ok for my mixed lettuce. I don't really have a ton of cash right now so if I could use it obviously it'd be doing me a favour. But if its no good then it'd be wasted money to use it. Just need some opinions please :o

Thanks.

It will be fine. It's possibly a little strong for lettuces, which will grow in just about anything, but they should do well enough in it.

Seems a waste to me , have you thought of growing a cucumber or a courgette ?

It will have a higher level of potash in it which lettuces don't need but it won't do them any harm.

    Thanks for the replies :D

I'd grow other veg but tbh it would only be wasted, I have to grow what gets eaten so it's lettuce and toms.

I'll be using it for more tomatoes anyway now... just realised I've got 2 plants on the window sill that will need it. My head isn't with it today, I'm getting over excited with all the sun that's forecast for this week :o

Good to know I can use I for other things though, Thankyou.

Have you tried planting lettuce around the base of the tomatoes? You could get two crops from each pot. If there isn't room for big lettuces, try the cut-and-come-again salad leaves.
