Best insurance for mobiles?

I've bought a phone off Gumtree and I want to insure it.

Most insurance companies want some proof of purchase if you ever claim, with this is mind what's my best bet?

FYI it's a sony xperia Z

    You will always need to show proof of ownership in the event of a claim.

    I presume you obtained a receipt from the seller, with their name and address details showing ?

    When you buy anything from a private seller you have to take precautions by at least having some basic details for the seller on some form of receipt. Also a copy of the Gumtree ad should be kept.

    Prior to arranging Insurance, I would suggest that you contact companies to make sure that the receipt you have is going to be acceptable in the event of a valid claim on the policy. If you have a way of recording the call, it might be worth doing so, as I doubt they will confirm in writing whether the handwritten receipt is ok or not.
