  • I'm sure you know but just in case you don't, Flow take payment in advance so they will take the first month's DD when the supply goes live. Just something to bear in mind so you don't think there is any jiggery pokery going on :D

Thanks for that. It's not a problem, still works out the cheapest supplier by quite a bit.

  • Be aware that - unlike the big six suppliers, Flow Energy demand that customers pay their monthly direct debit before using any fuel. If you switch from a standard direct debit tariff, you may have to pay two hefty bills in a short time.

They shouldn't be too hefty if they are just the monthly payments. :)

Anyone should be aware that on switching they might receive a hefty final bill anyway. (e.g. old account in debit, previously low estimated readings, etc)

I would also say it's quite possible when changing any supplier that it's quite often you get 2 payment requests in the same month i.e. the final one from the old supplier and one from the new.
I know I've certainly experienced this in the past ... and my old account was actually in credit, so then it ended up being even more in credit which I got all back when they produced their final bill.

Agreed in some cases but with Flow you are more or less guaranteed that this will happen. No biggie as long as you are forewarned, of course. Which is why i thought it prudent to mention it to the OP.

    Agreed.

As it could happen with any supplier, I suppose there is a risk it could happen for 2 months with Flow.
Also be aware based on what I've read as the experiences of others, it seems Flow might be having trouble meeting the 10 day notice period before they can collect DD's so are often pushing back the initial collection date anyway.

On the positive note, by Flow monthly collecting in advance, if anyone later decides to switch from Flow, they might even end up with a month where no payment is collected.

    Swings & roundabouts really :)
