cctv in holiday chalet

We have just returned from a holiday in a privately rented holiday chalet - we were perturbed when we arrived to find a cctv camera in the lounge.
We were not advised of this prior to renting and would not do so if we had been told. The recording device was locked away and we had no idea as to whether we were being recorded. I appreciate that they may be concerned about damage to their property but we have no idea what they are doing with the images and no way of checking as we couldnt see the recording device that it wasnt running any further cameras we couldn't see.
We have young children who have a habit of running around indoors half dressed or naked and we had to keep reminding them not to do this.
Having paid for a week we couldnt afford to just walk away but I wondered what people thought about this and whether I should email the owners and complain. There was also no mention of this in the welcome pack on arrival.Thoughts please

I wouldn't have been happy about this invasion of privacy especially not as you were never told beforehand, but then I would have covered the camera up and carried on as normal.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

I'm with peachy price - could you not just have draped a tea towel or something similar over it ? That's what I would have done.0

Must have been an unpleasant surprise , I would also cover up any cctv cameras , makes you wonder what other hidden cameras could be there

That is awful! I would have covered it up but I'd be livid if I stumbled across something like that.

Did you have a contact number for the owner? I would have insisted that someone came out, opened the locked recording device and switched everything off in front of me.
It might be that it's only on during the weeks the cottage isn't let but there wouldn't be any way of holiday makers knowing that.0 -
