You can have more than one Barclaycard. I have three:
Platinum Visa
Classic Mastercard
OnePulse (no longer issued).
Though I wouldn't think that if you're a new customer, they'd give you more than one immediately.
I had a Classic Visa to start off with, then applied for a Mastercard to separate business/personal spending (they split the credit limits, though they've been increased since). The Classic then turned into a Platinum a couple of years later.
Later applied for a OnePulse card when it first came out, expecting it to replace one of my existing cards, but didn't, and was surprised to be given an extra card with a healthy credit limit.0
