1st/2nd week in October - Majorca or Canaries?

I'm driving myself up the wall here. Found a fab place to go in Majorca on holiday for just over a week in September and was all set to book. Unfortunately the project that DH will be working on then means that we can't go anywhere in September.

Can do 1st or 2nd week in October, which is cheaper, but I'm a bit worried about the weather/rainfall etc in Majorca then, so started thinking about the Canaries. Need somewhere good for a toddler (and with lots to do - we don't laze by the pool - and somewhere DH can scuba dive. Would the Canaries be better/dryer in October?

Some friends fancy coming too, so that would be 4 more adults, and 2 children aged almost 6 and 7. So looking at somewhere where we could all get apartments/1 big villa possibly. We're in south Wales so Cardiff, Bristol, Birmingham or London departures work best.

Can anybody help?

TIA

October, like May, can be a bit hit or miss in the Mediterranean. Although I would much prefer Majorca, I think I would go with the Canaries if I was in your situation. The weather would be less of a gamble.

I've been to the Canaries 4 times . all winter holidays as in October, December & March. . Unless your are really unlucky , fine hot weather is guaranteed , perhaps with the exception of cool nights and maybe the odd shower .

    weather averages for Majorca http://www.holiday-weather.com/majorca/averages/

    And Fuertuventura http://www.holiday-weather.com/fuerteventura/averages/

    :)
  • Majorca will be stone cold by then. You'll be able to get a big villa in the Canaries, probably Costa Adeje, Tenerife, or Costa Teguise or Peurto del Carmen, Lanzarote.

Check out owners direct, and skyscanner.net for flights.
  • We go to Tenerife 2nd week in October, been 4 times I think and each time weather has been great x

Ive been to majorca 3 times mid october and daytime weather has been 70+ and still ok in the evening
  • We have had lots of October holidays in Majorca, some at the end of the month with some fabulous weather, not saying we never had rain but generally very good. Always been swimming in the Med, warmer than summer at home. The Canaries will probably have the edge on reliability but Majorca will be very much cheaper
  • I have been to Majorca twice in late October and Ibiza also and weathers been lovely. Swimming pools were always freezing but the sea is like a bath that time of year. Would recommend Palma Nova, taxi from the airport and gorgeous sandy beach. I have been to Tenerife once (in May) but prefer Majorca.
If you are booking independantly and are prepared to wait until August/September time you should get a bargain flight from Ryanair. We only paid £20 per person when we went last time and the hotel (Hawaii) was only about £400 AI for the week for 4 of us.
