MET Parking Charge
leebiscuit
I have recently received a parking charge from MET parking for overstaying the 90 minute limit after a visit to Krispy Kreme. We had no idea there was a limit on time in the car park and understandably furious. After reading various posts on the forum it seems it is a common complaint. Could you please advise on our next move. We have read various posts where people have made no contact at all with them. Is this our best course of action? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Don't ignore - unless this was Scotland or NI - that's the old advice for England/Wales even for a fake PCN from a 'tame' PPC like MET.
I know you are furious but take a moment to LOL at them! :rotfl:

If this was not a windscreen fake PCN and in fact you have now received the first letter to registered keeper in the post, then appeal it without giving anything away. Could be as simple as a letter like the one suggested in this thread; the important thing is NOT to say who was driving or give any information AT ALL:

...then you'll get a rejection (standard stuff from scammers!) so then keep the envelopes and letters & check all their paperwork and timeline against this:

With the rejection you should be given a code or form to send POPLA a robust appeal like this sort of thing, nice strong examples here:

and this one I wrote myself re an overstay situation (I post as SchoolRunMum on pepipoo forum):

...but do read other threads about POPLA appeals - there are LOADS!
When you get to POPLA stage - when you get the rejection letter from MET - do check back here before sending it to POPLA first, and show us your draft for help to ensure all points have been covered in your case. We do keep adding more points to POPLA appeals, constantly updating with points that win.
Oh, and send a strong complaint letter to the Management of the Retail Park or landowner (easily found in any online newspaper article about the place).
This is a scam where people should complain every single time to the retail parks, retailers and landowners.
You can also complain to the DVLA for releasing your data - particularly if you find any flaws with their paperwork and timeline. Did they send this letter within 14 days?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thank you for all the advice Coupon-Mad.
We received the letter a week after the incident. Will get back to you once we have started the process.
