  • Thank you all for the replies.

I have sent in one application where the hours would be suitable - I do have some flexibility and can work weekends and holidays.

The shopping discount will be a bonus :)

I took a girlfriend to my local Tesco Metro recently,

It used to have to be at least the pictures with fish and chips on the way home in my day.

With ASDA you have to complete your 12 week probationary period before they will issue you with a discount card, which is 10%. Apparently they do a day in the run up to Christmas where the discount is doubled to 20% on everything, good for Christmas presents :)
I have also heard Asda have a limit on alcohol. Its not much - £100. So that's a couple cases of beer, 3 bottles of spirits and 9 bottles of wine on 3 for £10. I cannot tell you if this policy was in place and was it just in a year or December.

Haven't heard of this, but I can well believe it being implemented as a temporary measure during the festive period.

In Dacouch's defence, it's only 'a girlfriend' not 'the/my girlfriend'. If he has a lot of girlfriends then the cost of the pictures and chippy soon stacks up. Supermarkets are much cheaper option.

I think the booze limit is on the 20% staff discount day. That is before SD.

Sainsburys does have 10-12 weeks of 15%, which includes all of December.

M&S is 20% on everything (even sale items and clearance marked food) and it only takes about 2 weeks for the card to arrive, no probation period.
