I'm in the process of converting a property into 2 self contained flats.
Can anyone tell me, how I go about getting a Sound Test done?
Many Thanks

Specialist companies do it, there are quite a lot around because they are compulsary for a lot of buildings now...
Type 'sound insulation test' into Yell to find your local companies.0 -
Don't Building Regs do this test?
As it is their requirement that this test is done?0 -
No it is the builders/owners responsibility to have the tests conducted by a third party accredited sound test body. You then pass the results to your local BCO to confirm they meet the minimum criteria.

A local network can be found through

Hope this helps.

Hi, we have recently split a house into 2 flats (with a separating floor) and have used Practical Acoustics for sound testing (http://www.practicalacoustics.com/sound-testing.php ) They have provided advice throughout the development phase in order to ensure we complied with the building regulations for sound insulation and pass the sound tests.
At the end of the building phase, we booked the sound testing and within two days, they had done the tests and sent us the full report for our building control officer to (finally) sign off our conversion. Very pleased with their service - friendly and professional and cheaper than most quotes we got.0
