Is there anyway of stopping a shortcut from appearing on the START menu?

if what you are trying to do is stop a program loading at start up then look for an option to do so in the program itself or start - run - type msconfig and uncheck the box which relates to the program you want to stop. Reboot and that should do the trick.0

go into the folder and delete the short cut fileYes Your Dukeiness

right click and theres a option to remove from list, there is a way to get rid of that list completely trying to rememberYes Your Dukeiness

got it, on the bar just above the list of programs right click - go to properties, then there's an option for 'no of programs in start menu, set to 0Yes Your Dukeiness
