My partner is unemployed and I work 20 hours a week so we have been getting HB and Council tax support. My partner has just been offered a temp job for 8 months, however he will be paid monthly, and I am paid monthly.
Will we still get HB till he gets a paid or is that going to stop as soon as he starts a job. I'm just worried how we are going to cope with no money for a month. We are already living hand to mouth, we have 5 kids and I can't even afford baby milk for the youngest, he's had have normal milk for the last 4 weeks.

Have you checked you are receiving all the child benefit and tax credits you should be getting roughly £300 per week from these
I believe you can apply for a 4 week run-on of housing benefit
you may still be entitled to a reduced amount based on his income/your rent/LHA0 -

Only if you or your partner have been in receipt of a qualifying social security benefit for 26 weeks without a break - if not the wages are counted from the following Monday after they commence work. These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0 -
He has had his full entitlement for contribution based JSA and have just gone onto income based but doesn't get anything due to my earnings. Is that 26 weeks?
We do get £203 a week tax credits but that has to pay the bills. I think we are getting all that we are entitled to but its still a struggle having 5 growing children all under the age of 8.
I've been desperately trying to get more hours and have applied for 5 jobs last week so hopefully something will come of that.0 -
