Housing Benefit and IB

Would someone be able to tell me how long the waiting period is whilst on Incapacity Benefit to be eligible to receive housing benefit is it 59 weeks?

    There is no waiting period to claim housing benefit.

    You can claim Hb stright away but you will need to provide evidence of all your savings and bank accounts. Infact with incapacity benefit they will usually pay HB from the monday after you submit your claim form, so if you hang around you are losing money.

    The above replies are all correct, what may be causing the confusion is that in the calculation of HB there is a "Disability Premium" element included in the allowed income calculation, which is only included after 52 weeks of incapacity (or earlier if DLA or a number of other benefits are in payment).
