No Loan/PPI details

I'm about to attempt to reclaim some PPI.
Most of my loans/mortgages etc are from over 6 years ago but I've managed to get account details for them. However, I know there are a couple I am missing.
I know I've had a couple of car loans in the past (one of which I know definitely had PPI on it) but I can't remember who the loans were with. I've done an Equifax search but that only takes me back to 6 years ago and the loans in question pre date this. I also don't have bank statements from this time any longer and have changes banks too. Is there an easy way to get my hands on my previous finance agreements online (i.e. from more than 6 years ago). I'm sure if I put a bit of effort in with my previous bank I could get details of previous direct debits but if there was an easier way I could do it at home that option would be better.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

There is no way you can obtain details if you cant remember who they are with and they are historic. You will be best off looking over old bank statements to find names of the providers, but that doesnt prove you had ppi, that they sold you ppi or if it were mis-sold. There is nothing wrong with PPI if sold correctly.0
