in 2000 my mum took out a mortgage with RBS and 3 yrs later sold the house and paid off the mortgage.
does anyone know if she could claim back the PPI she had on the mortgage??
she knows she definately had PPI as she wouldnt have been able to have a mortgage without paying it

What would be her reasons for complaint?

If it was a packaged deal (which did exist back in 2000) then that would not be reasons for complaint as that is allowed.

Is that her belief or does she have evidence to support the assertion?

The world was "definitely" flat once.

RBS' mortgage PPI is a monthly policy, its a seperate application, its payable seperately and can be cancelled at any time. the evidence will show it was clearly an optional extra.

hmmmmmmm, well as far as shes aware it was just put to her as she had to have it, she was never told it was an option wether she had it or not.
as if she didnt take it and got ill or lost her job there would be no way of paying the repayments

Which is indicates that she doesnt have any reason to complain.

One of the reasons MPPI has lower complaints success is that it is covering a major debt with lifestyle changing consequences if you fail to pay the mortgage. It is not like some credit card or loan which can create hassle but not really impact on you that much.

It is a requirement of mortgage advisers to make the individual aware of risks and solutions. That sounds like it has happened correctly.
