Kitchen - Ikea or Wren?

Hi All,
I need to choose between the these two.

I got a quote from Wren for £2650 for a 11 unit kitchen with a steel sink and laminate worktops (without appliances)

I priced the same kitchen in Ikea and its £1900 appx.

If you were me, what would you choose?

    Hi bluedrop

I'm afraid I don't know much about Wren kitchens but my Ikea one was put in 3 years ago and is still looking like new! One thing to watch with Ikea - there is no cavity at the back of the base units, so you need pretty good flat walls, since the units sit flush with the walls.

    Regards

Ooh - ive just been looking at kitchens. Wren are ready made wheras Ikea are flatpack so you need to take that into account. If you good at flatpack thats great but if you getting it installed it may cost more as will take longer. If I was putting it in myself id probably go for the wren as a) I think ready made may be stronger and b) I have a collegue with a wren kitchen and she loves it! Although ultimately Im a bit fussy so it would depend upon which one I fell in love with!

Something to bear in mind when looking at IKEA is that the kitchen system is changing next year, so if you need to get a replacement door, or add to your kitchen you may have difficulty.

I was planning on using IKEA but am now using Howdens for this reason.

    Hi

Have you looked at what the Ikea 25 year guarantee covers?

It covers you against faulty manufacture of components only.

If a component is going to fail because of faulty manufacture its going to do it in the first few years of life.

The only thing that you would need a 25 year guarantee for would be against general wear, but this is not covered!
