Hi, I am looking for a house insurance quote as am a first time buyer. But scared a bit, as my mortgage advisor told that if you try to take quote online they will do credit check which will affect your credit history.
AM wondering do these insurer do credit check just for the quote?

Your Mortgage Adviser is talking nonsense. Some companies do 'soft' credit checks which are about verifying who you are and have no impact on your credit history.

The cynic in me thinks he is more worried about their income than you because they can't meet the online prices.

I am inclined to agree! The mortgage advisor wants you to take out insurance through your lender which is usually much more expensive.

Mortgage providers just need to know that the building is adequately insured.

You may want to go for a blanket cover or if you know the rebuild cost use that.

Don't worry about about getting quotes affecting your credit history.
