Lavender

I got 10 plug plants on ebay of both Munstead and Hidcote, stuck them in the garden 5-6 weeks ago, and they have either vanished or are still 1" high. Is this normal for lavender? Did I get them too early?

Putting plugs directly into the ground is asking a bit too much, I'd have potted on into 5cm pots and put into a cold-frame or under a cloche

I always put lavendar in big pots as plugs (which is where they will remain, my borders are all too shady for them to do well) they start off slow but will get going, probably more next year than this. I also always lose a few plugs if they've been posted, (never if I pick plugs up from the garden centre).

I've had some mini-plugs through the post (just munsted) 2 months ago, these were potted up indoors because they were minute and I was a bit worried about whether they'd survive with the daft weather, and honestly they haven't grown a tiny weeny bit, but I'm sure they'll be fine too

Don't know anything about plug plants, but we have some lavender in our front garden - shortly after it was planted the front wall was hit by a car and fell on the lavendar, crushing it completely. We were sure that it would be completely destroyed but after the rubble was removed we saw that it was fine, and is now about 3-feet tall.

Maybe its biding it's time and plotting garden domination. Thanks for that lovely lavender site, I can have the 3 hardy ones
