dont know if anyone can help me, i have just successfully won ppi from barclays, i was in a iva not so long ago which is now terminated. they have taken money i owed them out of the said ppi payment, which left me with a bit of money, the cheque has been made payable to the trustee of my name on the cheque. does this mean i can still bank the cheque myself as i no longer am tied to anyone/company

you cant bank a cheque thats not personally made payable to yourself. if the IVA is settled you would be best of telling Barclays this. they do reserve the right to offset it against money still owed even if it was written off.

Barclays kept the amount they had to write off following your IVA, and then gave the remainder to your trustee so that they can distribute it to the other companies that you didn't repay your debts to.

You need to speak to your trustee.

Call them up or write to them and tell them you are no longer in IVA. They should have checked your status on the IVA register. Mistakes are easily made either way.

Do you live in Scotland by any chance?, as the rules there are subtly different. I've been told that the IVA can still take/accept payments even after the termination, which does seem a little unfair. When are you meant to be clear of the IVA.
