£9 on lunch with some friends. And it was worth every penny even though it was a bit indulgent.

    65p on some choccy biscuits...hmmmmm

I spent 89p on a 200 gramme bar of Belgian Milk Chocolate in TESCO - I was going to get a bar of Tesco Value chocolate (46p for 150 grammes) and it must have taken me at least fifteen minutes before I finally gave in to the temptation.
Still, I've only eaten half of it - I'm saving the rest for when I watch the Grand Prix tomorrow.

Rog, can I ask you about the TV dongle - I presume it's something different to the TV card I have in my PC - where does it receive the signal from and what channels can you receive? We've no TV in our bedroom but hubby goes to sleep before me, so I'd like to be able to watch tv in bed sometimes.

Hi Snag - The TV 'Dongle' is a USB device that, effectively, is a digital TV receiver, with a small aerial. You simply plug it into a USB port and, depending on how strong the digital signal is, in your area, you should be able to receive all 'free to air' digital channels.
I didn't buy one today, as they were £49.96 in Tesco, but they're only £38.95 if you buy on line.
I am tempted, and will probably ask my son to pay for it on his debit card, tomorrow - I'll give him the cash.
My son has one (Christmas Present from his sister) and the quality of the picture (and sound) is excellent.

Thanks Rog, I'll have a look at those, it might be a solution for us. We have a TV card in the pc (which is in our bedroom), but you have to plug either an analogue aerial into it (haven't got one) or run a lead from our digibox all the way upstairs, which looks a bit messy.

Certainly the 'dongle' (it's really called a DVB-T USB STICK is a lot easier - and tidier.

I'm off to bed now Snag - I hope Natasha is well.

I see by your new avatar that you are in 'ma hoose' - does that mean that you are no longer 'saving in vain' for a deposit?

Your memory is fantastic! Things are (fingers crossed) moving along on the house front, but I am now renting a flat and no longer live with the two strange housemates who spent £240 on gas in a quarter!
    Overpay!
