If your vendor has not yet found a property, do not make a full mortgage application, nor spend money on fees, until the chain is fully formed.I am a mortgage broker. Well I have an appoiontment with HSBC tomorrow so will discuss the booking fee then. In the mean time I will find out the current status of the seller.
Anyone have any ideas on my HSBC/Halifax situation though?0 -
Bill, have you tried using this tool to see how much capital will be repaid:

Appears to be, but isn't. You must compare like with like and that includes the mortgage term. Combined with the slightly cheaper fees, you are better off with HSBC.billchecker1 wrote: »So in effect Halifax appears to be cheaper.0 -
Sorry to have proved you wrong amnblog
but just to let folks know that we completed our purchase on Monday.
Certainly seems HSBC are happy to lend at high LTVs if you can prove you have a solid steady income.
In fact we ended up getting a house that was even more expensive than the one in the original post, £250k.
Thanks for those that helped along the way
Especially Caldan. 0
