Aah thankyou for the warm welcome you guys :) You're right Sashanut it's very friendly here !

I have been lurking for a while and really liked the look of padding .

I wont be able to pay much extra , as after my bills and saving for mortgage with o/h only have £100-£150 left to myself each month mostly the extra cash goes on food cos my grocery budget isn't very high . I feel guilty buying clothes etc for myself when I know I could be putting it to pay debt ! This won't be for much longer though as should have money together by end of year for me and o/h to move out of my mums (yay) !! :T

    50p pad please to club

    mobo xx

    Then there's the mortgage :o

Just to add my DF story

I can't remember when I started. When DLA renewal was looming a few years ago and I thought 'I have to honour God with my money and that means butt shifting this debt'. I was on a healthy eating plan and someone recommended Dave Ramsey (it was US) so I got his books off amazon and started. I got rid of my credit cards that summer and got a wee buffer. I just literally did what I had to do to pay off credit cards (without committing benefit fraud). They weren't huge but it was a starting point.

    then I stalled.....

Went on CAP DMP but I wasn't in enough debt for it to really work and I couldn't quit the cigs at that point (years before I discovered the e-cig) and well...it gave me a budget but I found it impossible to stick to so I went busking (penny whistle) just for some pocket money :)

    Then I stalled......

Found MSE and tried various threads. Some good....some not so good. Found the e-cig and budgeted accordingly. I got to the point where I had enough e-cig stuff in the house for months and it had only cost like 2 weeks worth of cigs. I began to fall in love with the spreadsheet (do I sound sad?). I stalled again a few times after this and the overdraft was really hard to butt shift because it was the last thing to go and really tiny but oh so tempting :(

The snowball helped me pay off a laptop I got on HP one winter. I paid it off in a few months. It really helped...hence I mention it so much. I always paid off the HP the cheapest way possible. I never used my debit card because they would charge an extra £3 for that :o.

I became debt free october 2011. I now never want to have debt again bar a mortgage. (I'm currently renting). I still check the spreadsheet etc. etc and buy second hand stuff most of the time but now I'm discovering stuff like spare parts for things like my second hand bosch freezer LOL which is saving me even more.

I can still spend like the best of them but I'm getting there. I don't have much savings but I have a little and that helps. I'm aware things can change in an instant and to always be aware of the lowest you might have to live on and try and stick to that budget then save the difference (still trying :()

    Hope that encourages folks
