M6 toll road saturday/sunday is it worth it?

Im travel from Portsmouth to manchester

ill be around the M6 toll area around 12-1pm saturday (north bound ) and 6-7pm sunday (south bound),i would prefer to not pay the toll ,im guessing it will be busy on my journey back sunday on the M6??

    not worth it either way. m6 should be running fairly clear at those times

    It is a £4.80 for a car, £8.60 for a trailer, £9.60 for a van (IIRR, they work out "van" by the height of the body over the front wheels, so some big 4x4 are "van")

    I'd spend 15 minutes more on the M6 for £5: unless there is an accident, you won't take this much longer.

    Bit of a sore point here the Toll Road, never any traffic on it, and we have to drive miles to get on the M6, if it were free it would be very convenient.
    I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

    Oh, be careful at the M6/Toll road junctions. Watch the signs over the lanes. You have to keep left and turn off the M6 to stay on the M6. Keep straight on and you are on the Toll Road.
    I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

    Sunday I'd play it by ear. Can get busy with weekly commuter traffic and holiday makers so wouldn't decide till you get close
