Oh yes :-). You have to be able to look at a big drop in the value of your portfolio without having fits! Keep the HYP faith...

Deemy, I am pursuing this because I don't want people to be misled. You *cannot* count the special dividend; that was a one-off ( from the sale of the AA, I believe ). The *current* yield is 3.69%; the *forecast* yield ( ie what analysts think it will be ) is 4.76%.

Don't get me wrong; I think it's a good investment, and I'm thinking of buying some myself; but I don't want anyone to think that CNA offers an easy 10%, because it doesn't.

    Hi Cheerfulcat

I never said the yield was 10%, I said I got an approx 10% dividend in Nov 04, the actual yield for 2004 will be about 14% once the final gets paid. 4.76% is the yeild as per comdirect, I don't see how 3.6% is the yield someone is recieving or likely to see.

Don't get me wrong I not pushing centrica, as there are far better companies out their and its a small part of my portfoilio but the dividend I have recieved to date is over 10% with more to come which will bring last years yeild up to about 14% or so, and I do expect 4.7% as per comdirect on the current price of 233. Obviously if the shares suddenly soar in price than the yield would be lower...........

Please treat this statement with caution. I'm checking whether this statement is correct.

Apologies if I made an error here: I thought the refer a friend offer was "official" , having seen it on the boards several times.

    Trying to keep it simple...;)

    No problem Editor.

Can everyone be aware that this is a free forum. Although particular companies, and referals, may be posted on the forums several times unless they are in an article or made by a member of the MSE team then they are not an 'official' recommendation of MoneySavingExpert.com. When making such a claim that abc is recommended by the MSE team, you should link to where that statement is made so we are all clear. If there is a recommendation then its possible there could be a referral link giving MSE some money which keeps this site going.

    Thanks for listening.
