Tax Credit Giros not being received

Just a quick post to see if there has recently been a 'spate' of people not receiving their weekly Tax Credit giros through the post.

I only ask as I, like many others, have lost confidence in the TC department and it would be interesting to see if there is a pattern to giros not being received. When I rang TC to say I hadn't received a giro, they duley arranged for me to fill in a form declaration that it had not come through. But then the next weeks didn;t arrive - in fact 3 weeks in a row. I have since altered payment to direct bank now.

The TC automatic word for word response was that the Royal Mail "employ a lot of temporary workers and a lot of giros are stolen by them". Hhmmm, one I could see, but three weeks in a row is quite something and a gut feeling is niggling me that it may well be a case of them not having been printed by the TC in the first place ... hence this post to see if anyone else is experiencing same thing.

I didn't even know they dished out giro's, why not just have it put into an account?

    Hi aston

Yes, they do and yes, I have arranged last week to again have it direct into bank but I swapped over my banks a month ago and it was just an interim method until I had fully set up my new bank details.

Did the helpline give you the Giro reference numbers? If so then they were printed.

Postwatch estimate that approx 12.5 million letters go missing every year....crikey!

Yes there has been a problem with giros getting through. Don't know the reason for it though. It seems to have occurred when the new 2007/2008 award started paying out.
