Tax Credit Giros not being received

Just a quick post to see if there has recently been a 'spate' of people not receiving their weekly Tax Credit giros through the post.
I only ask as I, like many others, have lost confidence in the TC department and it would be interesting to see if there is a pattern to giros not being received. When I rang TC to say I hadn't received a giro, they duley arranged for me to fill in a form declaration that it had not come through. But then the next weeks didn;t arrive - in fact 3 weeks in a row. I have since altered payment to direct bank now.
The TC automatic word for word response was that the Royal Mail "employ a lot of temporary workers and a lot of giros are stolen by them". Hhmmm, one I could see, but three weeks in a row is quite something and a gut feeling is niggling me that it may well be a case of them not having been printed by the TC in the first place ... hence this post to see if anyone else is experiencing same thing.

I didn't even know they dished out giro's, why not just have it put into an account?:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0

Hi aston
Yes, they do and yes, I have arranged last week to again have it direct into bank but I swapped over my banks a month ago and it was just an interim method until I had fully set up my new bank details.Integrity is a dying art!:p0 -

Did the helpline give you the Giro reference numbers? If so then they were printed.
Postwatch estimate that approx 12.5 million letters go missing every year....crikey!0 -
Yes there has been a problem with giros getting through. Don't know the reason for it though. It seems to have occurred when the new 2007/2008 award started paying out. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
